RESUMEN

Background: Previous studies have found that the postdisaster developmental course of depression is more stable than that of other mental disorders among children and adolescents. However, the network structure and temporal stability of depressive symptoms after natural disasters among children and adolescents remain unknown. Objective: This study aims to understand the depressive symptom network and evaluate its temporal stability among children and adolescents after natural disasters. Methods: Three-wave measurements were conducted among 1,466 children and adolescents at 3, 15, and 27 months following the Zhouqu debris flow. Depressive symptoms were evaluated by the Child Depression Inventory (CDI), which was dichotomised to signify the presence or absence of depressive symptoms. Depression networks were estimated with the Ising model, and expected influence was used to assess node centrality. A network comparison test was used to test the differences in the depression networks among the three temporal points. Results: Overall, the depressive symptom network was temporally stable regarding symptom centrality and global connectivity over the two-year study period. Self-hate, loneliness, and sleep disturbance were central symptoms and had low variability in the depressive networks at the three temporal points. Crying and self-deprecation had large temporal variability in centrality. Conclusion: The present study provides the first evidence for the temporal stability of the youth depressive symptom network postdisaster. The similar central symptoms and connectivity of depression symptoms at different temporal points after natural disasters may partially explain the stable prevalence and developmental trajectory of depression. Self-hate, loneliness, and sleep disturbance could be central characteristics, and sleep disturbance and reduced appetite, sadness and crying, and misbehaviour and disobedience could be key associations in the endurance of depression among children and adolescents after experiencing a natural disaster.

This study provides the first evidence for the temporal stability of the youth depressive symptom network. The depressive symptom network had temporal stability.Self-hate, loneliness, and sleep disturbance were the central symptoms among youths after a natural disaster.

Abstract Emotional Regulation (ER) has assumed relevance in clinical psychology. Its measurement requires appropriate instruments at a psychometric level. The convergent and incremental validity of the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) was examined in 224 people between 18 and 63 years old (M = 32.04; SD = 11.51), and temporal stability in 52 participants between 21 and 63 years old ( M = 30.46, SD = 10.65). The results indicated moderate temporal stability (.74) in the case of expressive suppression and good (.81) for cognitive reappraisal. Also convergent validity through positive associations between expressive suppression and depressive and anxiogenic symptomatology. Cognitive reappraisal was negatively associated with depressive symptomatology, but not with anxiety. Hierarchical multiple regression evidence of incremental validity on depressive symptomatology was obtained (adjusted R2 = .44; p < .001). In conclusion, this research obtained new evidence about the psychometric properties of the Argentine version of the ERQ. Specifically, about its temporal stability, its convergent validity and its incremental validity.

Abstract Background : Anxiety disorders are the most prevalent worldwide, followed by depressive disorders. The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI; Beck et al., 1988) has been developed to assess the severity of anxiety symptoms and perform a differential diagnosis between anxiety and depression disorders. Objective: To examine the temporal stability of the BAI in its version adapted to Argentina and obtain evidence of discriminant validity.Method: In a sample of 52 people, the intraclass correlation coefficient was analyzed. Then, in a sample of 225 people, a correlation analysis between BAI scores and the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II; Beck et al., 2006) was performed; subsequently, an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with reagents from both instruments was conducted and the heterotrait-monotrait ratio of correlations (HTMT) was calculated. Results: The intraclass correlation coefficient was .82 (95% CI = .69 - .90). The correlation between the BAI and the BDI was .56 (moderate effect size). The EFA showed two well-differentiated factors and an HTMT proportion value of .66 (95% CI = .55 - .74) was found. Conclusions: An adequate temporal stability is observed and evidence of the discriminant validity of the instrument is provided.

RESUMEN

Abstract The study is aimed at analyzing psychometric features of the local version of the Honey-Alonso Learning Styles Questionnaire. First, the inner structure of the scale is examined by means of a confirmatory factor analysis and an analysis of factorial invariance, splitting the sample by faculty. Second, internal consistency coefficients of the dimensions are analyzed and compared to previous results. Third, external convergent validity evidences are considered, regarding scores obtained from a learning approach scale which was used as an external criterion. Findings show an adequate model fit, even employing different estimation methods. Furthermore, the factorial invariance analysis verifies the metrical equivalence of the model. The internal consistency study finds acceptable values. The dimensions' stability reliability indices do not verify significant differences between test and retest. Finally, the convergent validity evidences analyses show positive associations between learning styles and the Deep learning approach on the one hand, and negative associations between the Surface approach and learning styles on the other, as reported in previous studies. Results are discussed on the grounds of the theoretical and empirical background.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the temporal stability of the UWES instrument for the evaluation of work engagement. This construct is characterized by high vigor, dedication and absorption in the work. The sample was composed by 423 telemarketing workers and the test/retest methodology with an interval of 1 month was used. Descriptive and reliability analyses were carried out. The instrument presented adequate psychometric qualities (Cronbach´s Alpha >0.8; CFI >0.95; RMSEA <0.07) and showed good results regarding the Invariance Measurement between longitudinal samples (configural, metric and scalar), in agreement with data from the instrument's manual. Regarding the temporal stability there was an increase in Cronbach's Alpha values and Pearson's correlations were significant and positive. The results showed adequate psychometric quality with temporal stability, however, the need of future studies is emphasized, especially considering that the application was made using only one professional category, from one organization and region.
